HRA (House Rent Allowance) exemption follows the Income Tax Act Section 10(13A). The exempt amount is the MINIMUM of: 50% of basic salary (for metro cities) or 40% (for non-metro, actual rent paid minus 10% of basic, or the HRA amount received from employer.
