How does GST registration work for a small online reselling business?

I started reselling ethnic wear on Instagram and my sales have grown to about ₹2 lakhs per month. I am confused about whether I need to register for GST. I sell under the ₹20 lakh threshold for composite GST scheme but I have heard that interstate sales require GST registration regardless of turnover. Is this true? What are the compliance requirements once registered?
