What happens to NPS partial withdrawal after the new rules 2025?

Asked 6 Feb 2026·267 views
I heard that NPS has new partial withdrawal rules from 2025. Can someone explain what the current rules are? How much can I withdraw, for what purposes, and how many times? Also, is the 25% ceiling on partial withdrawal still applicable?

Under NPS new rules, subscribers can now make multiple partial withdrawals for specific purposes including critical illness of self/spouse/children, higher education of children, and purchase/construction of house. The 25% cap on total withdrawals remains. Each withdrawal must be at least Rs 1,000 and cannot exceed 25% of own contribution.

The 2025 amendment also introduced a new clause for financial emergencies including treatment of critical illness, natural calamity, and disability. You need to submit Form 108 with supporting documents to the associated POP. The request is processed within 15 working days.
