HDFC Bank
The HDFC Bank Imperia Programme is the bank's flagship premium wealth proposition for high-net-worth salaried customers, sitting one tier above the regular HDFC Bank Salary Account and aligned with the Imperia offering available on the broader savings, NRI, and credit card portfolio. It is governed by HDFC Bank's published Imperia programme terms and the Reserve Bank of India's Master Direction on Interest Rate on Deposits and KYC Master Direction. As India's largest private sector bank by market capitalisation, HDFC Bank operates 9,000+ branches and 22,000+ ATMs across India, providing the Imperia customer with nationwide access including Priority Banking branches at major metros. Eligibility for the HDFC Bank Imperia Salary Account requires either a gross annual salary of ₹30 lakh or above routed through a corporate tie-up, or an aggregate relationship value of ₹50 lakh or more across HDFC Bank savings, fixed deposits, mutual fund, demat, and loan accounts. The account is opened through the employer's HR and HDFC Bank's corporate banking team, with the employee typically mapped into Imperia at the time of salary account opening or upon promotion to the eligible salary band. The Monthly Average Balance (MAB) requirement is fully waived as long as the monthly salary credit is maintained. The account pays interest at 4.0% per annum on the daily closing balance — one of the highest published savings rates across any Indian salary account as of May 2026, and substantially above the 2.7%–3.5% range paid on standard public sector and private bank salary accounts. The interest credit is computed on a daily product basis and credited quarterly, in line with the RBI's savings account interest rate framework for scheduled commercial banks. Imperia salary account holders are assigned a dedicated Imperia Relationship Manager (RM) at a Priority Banking branch, with a dedicated phone line, email, and WhatsApp channel for personalised service. The package includes free unlimited domestic and international airport lounge access through the Priority Pass programme (subject to the published visit quota per quarter) and complimentary HDFC Bank Imperia World Debit Card with unlimited ATM usage at HDFC Bank's 22,000+ ATM network, 5 free transactions per month at other bank ATMs, higher daily ATM and POS limits, and free accidental death cover bundled on the card. Imperia customers also enjoy preferential fixed deposit rates — typically 0.25% to 0.50% above the standard HDFC Bank FD card rate for tenures of 1 year and above — plus preferential pricing on home loans, personal loans, car loans, and credit cards issued under the Imperia programme. The package includes up to 4 free add-on family debit cards (for spouse, parents, and children above 10 years), free outward remittance processing at concessional forex spreads, complimentary concierge and health check-up services, and a personal accident insurance cover of up to ₹5 lakh plus an air accident cover of up to ₹10 lakh. On leaving the employer, the Imperia Salary Account is reviewed for conversion: if the customer no longer meets the ₹30 lakh gross salary or ₹50 lakh relationship value threshold, the account is converted to a standard HDFC Bank Savings Account at the prevailing MAB slab and savings rate, with the Imperia debit card replaced by the standard variant. Imperia customers who change jobs but maintain their salary band can re-apply for Imperia status at the new employer. Source: HDFC Bank official website, updated May 2026.
