UCO Bank
UCO Bank Salary Account is a zero-balance savings product offered by UCO Bank — one of India's oldest public sector commercial banks, originally established in 1943 as United Commercial Bank in Kolkata and nationalised in 1969 under the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act. Today UCO Bank serves salaried customers, government departments, PSUs, and corporate employees through a dedicated salary account programme that maps every credit to a RuPay-enabled UCO Bank Salary Debit Card and the DigiUCO mobile banking platform. The bank operates more than 3,300 domestic branches with a strong concentration in eastern and northeastern India — West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand remain UCO Bank's heartland — supported by over 2,500 ATMs and a digital stack that includes DigiUCO, UCO mPassbook, and UCO Secure NetBanking. Salaried customers get a contactless RuPay Visa debit card, free SMS/email alerts, and instant salary-credit notifications, which makes UCO Bank a natural fit for central and state government staff posted in the East and Northeast. UCO Bank Salary Account pays 2.7% p.a. interest on the daily closing balance (credited quarterly), with the minimum monthly average balance (MAB) fully waived as long as salary credits continue. All domestic NEFT and RTGS transactions are free and unlimited, and customers also get a complimentary personal accident insurance cover of up to ₹5 lakh and an air accident cover of up to ₹10 lakh as part of the RuPay debit card insurance pack offered by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The account is opened through the corporate tie-up route — the employer signs an MoU with UCO Bank and salary credits are routed in bulk — but walk-in salaried customers can also open it at any branch with Aadhaar, PAN, employer ID, and the latest three months' salary slips. On job change or retirement, the salary account is auto-converted to a UCO Bank Savings Account, retaining the customer ID, debit card, and netbanking/mobile banking access without fresh KYC.
