How to Apply for the HDFC MoneyBack+ Credit Card in 2026
The HDFC MoneyBack+ Credit Card is a lifetime-free cashback card aimed at first-time credit card users. It offers 2 reward points per ₹150 on offline spends, 5X rewards on online spends, and a 5% cashback on incremental spends above ₹20,000 per month. The card has no annual fee and is the cheapest way to get an HDFC credit card without a fee waiver target.
Why this matters
MoneyBack+ is ideal for beginners who want to start with an HDFC card without committing to an annual fee. The 2 reward points per ₹150 on offline spends and 5X on online spends translate to roughly 1.3%–3.3% cashback depending on the category. The card is also a stepping stone to Millennia and Regalia — HDFC’s upgrade algorithm rewards responsible MoneyBack+ users with auto-upgrade offers.

- Check MoneyBack+ eligibility — You must be 21–60 years old, a resident Indian, with a minimum monthly income of ₹15,000 for salaried applicants. CIBIL score of 700+ is preferred. The card is not available to NRIs.
- Visit the HDFC card page — Go to hdfcbank.com/personal/pay/cards and find MoneyBack+ under the ’Cashback’ filter. The page has an Apply Now button.
- Fill the application form — Provide your name (as on PAN), mobile, email, PAN, address, employment details, and monthly income. Be precise with the income — declaring a higher number will trigger document requirements and slow down approval.

- Submit and note the application reference — Submit the form. You will receive a 9-digit reference number and an SMS confirmation. Save the reference number for future tracking.
- Wait for approval — Approval takes 5–10 working days. You will receive an email and SMS with the approval status. The card is dispatched within 5 working days of approval.
- Receive the card and set a PIN — The card is delivered to your verified address via BlueDart. Set a 4-digit ATM PIN via the IVR call or in SmartHub. The card is now active and ready to use.
- Start using for online + offline cashback — Use the card for online spends to earn 5X rewards and for offline spends to earn 2 points per ₹150. Track your reward balance in SmartHub and redeem via SmartHub or NetBanking for cashback.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not use MoneyBack+ for fuel or utility bill payments — both earn 0 rewards. The 5X online cashback is limited to partner merchants listed in SmartHub. The 5% incremental cashback above ₹20,000 is capped at ₹500 per month and excludes EMI, fuel, and wallet loads.
