What "fact-check" means on FinWiz24
Every factual statement on a card page or article has been checked against a primary source before publication, and is re-checked when the page is refreshed. "Fact" here means something verifiable: a fee, a rate, an eligibility bar, a rule — not an opinion about whether a card is good value.
The verification ladder
Tier 1 (required for numbers): the issuer's current fee schedule or T&Cs, or an RBI/SEBI document. Tier 2 (supporting): issuer press releases and official product pages. Tier 3 (context only): credible financial media. A claim that only has Tier-3 support is labelled as reporting, or we do not make it.
How we handle grey areas
Where issuers word terms ambiguously (for example "value of reward points"), we publish the issuer's own wording and the assumption used in any derived figure side by side. If two sources conflict, the current fee schedule wins and the page says so.
Stale data is a failure state
Fees change. Our weekly refresh pass compares every active card page against its issuer source; changed figures are updated and dated. A number you spot that contradicts the issuer's current schedule is a bug — report it via the corrections process and we will fix and log it.
Challenges and queries
We do not run a public "truth-o-meter". Our fact-checking is embedded in the review methodology: sources are cited, calculations are shown, and corrections are logged. Disagree with a verification? Write to [email protected] with the source and we will re-check it.
