NBFC Credit Card

An NBFC credit card is a credit card issued by a non-banking financial company, either directly or in partnership with a bank that provides the banking licence and card infrastructure. NBFCs in India are regulated by the Reserve Bank of India but are not full-service banks, which allows them to design credit products for customers who may not meet the stricter eligibility criteria of traditional banks — such as first-time credit users, self-employed individuals with variable income, and customers in underbanked regions. NBFC credit cards often come with digital-first onboarding, faster approval processes, and flexible repayment options. The reward structures and benefit packages vary widely depending on the NBFC and its banking partner. Some NBFC cards carry higher interest rates or annual fees compared with bank-issued cards, so applicants should carefully review the terms before applying. The card typically operates on a payment network such as Visa or Mastercard, ensuring merchant acceptance. NBFC credit cards are particularly relevant for customers who have been declined by traditional banks but want to build or improve their credit history, as responsible usage and on-time payments can help establish a positive credit record.
